Thanks again to you all for getting us to more than 12k so far! This has unlocked a particularly tasty stretch goal:

NEW VARIANT COVER

This of course is what is known as a homage (or swipe) cover - a tribute to the iconic cover art from Spider-Man #1 (by Todd McFarlane). The team from BEEZZZ STUDIO (who coloured the previous KILLEROO: SCARS REMASTERED book) are in the process of colouring this right now, and I will update you with the finished cover design when it's done.

This variant cover is known as COVER C, or the Homage cover - and is now available to select at all pledge levels of the campaign, and is also available as a separate ADD-ON. I have also added a new TRIPLE COMBO reward level, so if you want all 3 covers, you can upgrade your pledge from the COMIC COMBO reward level (and also save yourself $5 while you're at it).

If you've only selected the single COMIC reward, you can also select this new cover without changing your pledge.

SAMPLE BOOKS & FLYERS

Thanks to the team at Jeffries Printing, I have gotten a bunch of preview books, flyers and a sample of the 200 BACKERS gatefold print delivered. I'll have these to show at the next Melbourne Comics Meet, and the Alternate Worlds Local Comics Creator Day on Saturday April 17. 

And while the Kickstarter will be over then, I'll be using them at next month's SUPANOVA MELBOURNE event and repurposing them to drive pre-order sales of the book.

SUGGESTED KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGNS

Everyone who runs a Kickstarter keeps an eye on what campaigns are running concurrently, and April is quite a competitive month - here's a couple of particularly interesting looking projects that I'm considering backing myself!

THE DANCER

They Call Her...The Dancer is a story that focuses on the beauty and brutality of dance and martial arts, delving into the morally gray psyche of a professional dancer and assassin.

At first glance, They Call Her…The Dancer is about analyzing the similarities and differences between dance and martial arts. But once you dig deeper, the reader will quickly realize that The Dancer is actually a story about mental health. Mia is forced to face her own childhood trauma of witnessing her parents’ murder when she becomes the enemy that she once dedicated her life to fight against. The Dancer is a morally gray story that shows that good and evil aren’t so black and white.

THE JUMP

THE JUMP is kick-you-in-the tenth paranoid thriller set in the world of astral projection. It’s INCEPTION meets THE BOURNE IDENTITY if it were dripping with macabre and directed by David Fincher.  

It’s brought you by the same twisted team that produced Action Lab: Danger Zone's much-lauded superhero noir BANJAX. It made over a dozen critics ten best lists in 2019 and was nominated for FOUR Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards including BEST SERIES (alongside BITTER ROOT and SOMETHING’S KILLING THE CHILDREN).  

Writer Rylend Grant has worked for 15+ years in Hollywood, developing film and television projects - mostly big, poppy action movies - with folks like JJ Abrams, Ridley Scott, John Woo, Luc Beson, and Justin Lin.

We've crossed the 10k mark! More stretch goals unlocking soon.

Another milestone down, which means more bonus stuff for you!

By crossing the 10k mark, we've now unlocked several book upgrades, including the inclusion of a backer credits page, as well as improving the binding of the book, from saddle-stitching (stapled) to perfect binding (glued with spine).

We've also unlocked the Creative Team podcast, which will see myself, Matthew and Ignacio all discuss the project for an hour (to be recorded shortly after campaign completion). That's on top of the 100 Backers print, and the die-cut sticker that were unlocked earlier.

SO WHAT'S NEXT?

We're now fast approaching the 200 BACKERS reward, which will unlock the gatefold movie poster print (one of my favourite items, I really enjoyed putting it together).

After that is the 12k mark, we'll be unveiling a brand new Variant Cover for the comic, and at 14k will be a handy A6 bookmark of Killeroo. At the 16k mark, we'll be unlocking a new set of 6x Trading Cards, featuring the US Marine squad members (and a new Killeroo card). If you backed the 4Horsemen crossover, you'll know how great those trading cards came out!

DOUBLE-BACKER PRINTS

You may not have noticed so far, but we've partnered with several other kickstarter campaigns that will be running this month, and the first of these is AHMOSE BOOK 1, by Ben Slabak and co. Together, we've created a cool crossover print, which you will receive if you choose to back both of our campaigns. More info on how this works in the graphic below:

Thanks to all our backers for such an epic 24 hours!

Now we're into the business side of things, and the STRETCH GOALS start to come into play!

The first to unlock is the 100 BACKERS reward, which means all physical backers will now receive a bonus A5 print of Killeroo, drawn by Nate Van Dyke:

The next stretch goals coming up are for the 7K and 8K marks, with the first of these unlocking soon with only $333 remaining:

This new sticker will be a die-cut version, showcasing Killeroo from Ignacio Di Meglio.
